Fears and Homeopathy

Fear in the dictionary is defined as follows:

fear
noun
uk
/fɪər/

an unpleasant emotion or thought that you have when you are frightened or worried by something dangerous, painful, or bad that is happening or might happen:

Trembling with fear, she handed over the money to the gunman.

Even when the waves grew big, the boy showed no (signs of) fear

a fear of I have a fear of heights.

Fear can be closely related to anxiety – with anxiety being more of an underlying or general feeling of unease, worry and uncertainty, fear is more acute – responding to a real or imaginary imminent threat.

Fear and Panic can be closely related, but are they the same?

They might look the same from the onset, but there’s a difference in how each can affect us.

Fear is the automatic physical response to perceived imminent danger. It’s eat or be eaten. Fight or flight. Pure survival.

Fear is experienced often as you getting into fight or flight mode – your body releases hormones to prepare you for fight or flight – adrenaline and cortisol – the physical response is heart racing, fast breathing, sweating.

When you experience panic, it can be very similar to fear. Panic has no real danger – so it’s fear in a situation that is non-threatening, but is perceived by you as threatening.

Here, you also are provided with hormones to survive – but there’s not real need. As you are not in real danger.

Emotionally panic can be more destructive for our mental health, as it’s not rational.

Homeopathy is a great tool in your box to have to support with acute fear and also to help with the underlying susceptibility of getting fear/panic and anxiety attacks.

My no. 1 remedy for fears is Aconite. I recommend 3 remedies to carry in your handbag, the tripple A, as I call them, and Aconite is one of them – together with Arnica and Arsenicum.

Acute Remedies for Fear:

  • Aconite: comes on suddenly with very strong fear (even fear of death), great anxiety, strong palpitations, shortness of breath, flushed face; a trigger can be a frightening experience and this may be the underlying cause.
  • Arsenicum Album: deep anxiety about health, obsessive about tidyness, order and security. Chilly. panic attacks around midnight or very early hours or morning (up to 2am). very restless, but exhausted.
  • Argentum Nitricum: panic because of stage fright (anticipation), feeling hurried. accompanied by digestive symptoms (belching or stomach aches)
  • Kali Phos: startled, jumpy, sensitive, overworked. exhausted.
  • Phosphorus: full of fears. extroverted and very social. feels better with company and being consoled. Fears of the dark, thunder, loud noises, their family’s health are very prominent.
  • Stramonium: intense fear, may come on as a result of night terrors – eyes wide open but may not be awake, big pupils, scrambling screaming. Fear of dogs, and the dark.

What is the difference between fear and panic?
Fear is an immediate response to a real or perceived threat and activates the fight-or-flight response. Panic, on the other hand, is a sudden surge of fear that occurs without a real danger—often rooted in emotional or psychological triggers.
How does fear affect the body physically?
Fear triggers the release of stress hormones like adrenaline and cortisol, leading to physical symptoms such as a racing heart, rapid breathing, sweating, and heightened alertness. It’s the body’s way of preparing to respond to danger.
Can homeopathy help with sudden fear or panic attacks?
Yes. Homeopathy offers effective support for both acute fear and long-term susceptibility to panic. Remedies like Aconite, Arsenicum Album, and Argentum Nitricum can help calm symptoms and rebalance the body’s stress response.
What is the ‘Triple A’ remedy kit for fear and panic?
Stephanie recommends carrying Aconite, Arnica, and Arsenicum Album—the “Triple A”—as essential homeopathic remedies. Aconite is especially useful for sudden, intense fear; Arsenicum for anxiety with restlessness; and Arnica for physical trauma.
