Case IQ – Anxiety and ENT

Anxiety is and can be so debilitating – and that was the case for the person I am about to tell you about. I looked back at the case notes for this client with great satisfaction though. There was slow and sustained recovery with homeopathy and the end result was AMAZING!

Here is her story.

A Crippling Case of Anxiety and Panic

“I need help” said the woman of 38, when we met online.

“I need a permanent solution for my anxiety. It was manageable before, but now the thoughts are really interfering…… doom and gloom, I feel like I won’t make it past 45”.

I felt for her as she told me her story.

Over the space of one year, 3 different remedies were given. Each remedy brought change and helped my client to move forward.

Her main concern was the feeling that something bad would happen to her and she would die. It affected her sleep, her breathing, and her ability to live alone. She felt as if she could suffocate sometimes. This had led to panic attacks.

Triggers and Trauma: Uncovering the Root Cause

The anxiety started during her university days, some years ago, when she pushed herself to do well and seemingly burnt herself out. More recently, life deteriorated when her father died, suddenly. She had to rush back to the UK from a new job abroad, and then once the funeral was over, had to rush back to work. She found she couldn’t keep up and eventually, had to leave her job, which was a big blow.

Once back, she stayed with family, so was in a safe environment. But claustrophobia kicked in. She never had problems with driving a car, and then that changed too. She became claustrophobic, panicked the doors would not open, and avoided driving as much as was possible.

There were more details, as a consultation focussed very much on detail to find what was unusual about her, her history, her nature.

The Homeopathic Consultation: How I Work

Here is how I work:

I look for a CAUSE first. But sometimes there is no obvious cause, so other things that I look for are:

Intensely felt symptoms, and how they are experienced by the person.

Also, if appropriate, I look into how a person responds in situations like grief or stress, and almost always, this comes up spontaneously.

All of the above are important as they build up a jigsaw puzzle of this individual which can then be matched with a remedy or a group of remedies.

Key Factors in Choosing the Right Remedy

Other important factors that are really useful for remedy choice are:

Modalities: what makes a person feel better and worse.

For example, they might want to pace or go for a run which helps their state of mind. Or they might feel suffocated indoors when it is stuffy and warm.

Physical General Symptoms: This would include

  • sleep patterns,
  • food cravings/desires and food aversions;
  • thirst levels and for what;
  • bladder and bowel health;
  • whether they are chilly or warm blooded;

Fears.

Dreams

The Person’s Nature.

There is a lot of information that I collect, and the final choice of remedy is based on matching a remedy to the person I am helping. Identifying patterns is important, as homeopathic remedies have patterns and matching similar symptom patterns between remedy and patient is the essence of homeopathy.

The Journey to Recovery: Slow and Sustained Healing

After studying my case notes, I was happy with the remedy that I chose to start her treatment.

After the first remedy, she said “ I have had a few days in the past few weeks when I can sit by myself in a room and not feel too anxious.” Overall a 20% improvement.

I repeated the same remedy, and at her follow-up 3 months later she said “I’ve been a lot calmer with the anxiety – 40-50% better”. “Huge huge, I have applied for a job, might finish my teacher qualification… so thankful; I had given up”.

She stayed on the same remedy till the next time when I felt the remedy had done what it could and the time had come to move on. Her language and current concerns indicated a shift to another remedy, a nosode, to clear familial patterns.

Her response to her third remedy indicated more movement to a deeper level in her case. Now she had decided to go the big city to look for jobs – a very big step.

The next time I saw her, 3 months later, she had applied for a job, been accepted and was planning to leave town! “The remedy really helped me. I’m so surprised. I am facing my fears and I want to push myself. I have felt like a brand new person in October, November and December. More confident and decisive.”

What else changed?

She was prone to migraines and had no migraines in the past 3 months since her 4th remedy. “I am so thankful”.

She was back to driving a car with no anxiety or panic.

I have not heard back from her since then.

What a great resolution of the anxiety: Being able to drive again without feeling suffocated by anxiety. Being able to work, travel and socialise – things we all take for granted, but were so difficult for her.

Classical Homeopathy and the Sensation Method

I am a classical homeopath and I give one remedy at a time so I can assess what it does and doesn’t do. It has served me and my patients well. At times, other homeopathic tools are needed eg, detox remedies or remedies for genetic problems.

In her case, I used the ‘Sensation Method’, a particular way of analysing the patient’s language to decide between a remedy from the Minera, Plant or Animal kingdom.

I do not use protocols as each person gets an individualised remedy based on the presentation of their symptoms.

I spend time listening and asking detailed questions in order to fine tune remedy selection

How does a homeopath choose the right remedy for anxiety?
To choose the right remedy, a homeopath builds a complete picture of the individual by looking for root causes, intensely felt symptoms, and responses to stress or grief. They also analyze “modalities” (what makes symptoms better or worse), physical patterns (like sleep, digestion, and temperature preferences), fears, dreams, and the person’s overall nature.
What is classical homeopathy?
Classical homeopathy is an individualized approach where a practitioner prescribes only one single remedy at a time rather than using generic protocols. This allows the homeopath to clearly assess how the remedy is working and fine-tune the treatment based on the patient’s unique symptom presentation.
Can homeopathy help with panic attacks and claustrophobia?
Yes. In this specific case study, a woman suffering from severe panic attacks, feelings of suffocation, and driving-related claustrophobia successfully overcame her fears. Through carefully selected remedies, she was able to confidently drive, travel, and socialize again.
How long does it take for homeopathy to work for severe anxiety?
Homeopathic healing for deep-rooted anxiety is often a slow, sustained, and progressive journey. In the discussed case, the client experienced a 20% improvement after the first remedy, reached 40-50% improvement after a few months, and felt like a “brand new person” within a year of starting treatment.
What is the 'Sensation Method' in homeopathy?
The ‘Sensation Method’ is a highly specific analytical tool used during a homeopathic consultation. The homeopath carefully listens to and analyzes the patient’s language and expressions to determine whether their ideal remedy should come from the mineral, plant, or animal kingdom.
